Marinated in a blend of aromatic spices, these bites are perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside. Ideal as an appetizer or snack, they can be served with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a sprinkle of herbs for an extra burst of flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture: wrap it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, chili powder, and salt.
- Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for at least 15-20 minutes.
- Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro & sesame seeds. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
