Description

Suji Cheela is a quick and healthy Indian pancake made with semolina (suji), yogurt, and spices. It is a savory dish that is crispy on the outside and soft inside. Vegetables  can be added for extra flavor and nutrition. This cheela is perfect for breakfast or a light snack and is usually served with chutney or curd.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina (suji)
  • ½ cup curd (yogurt)
  • ½ cup water (adjust as needed)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon  ghee for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix semolina, curd, and water to form a smooth batter. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Add chopped onions, carrot, ginger, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan, drizzle some olive oil or ghee, and pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan.
  4. Spread it evenly and cook on medium flame until golden brown.
  5. Flip and cook the other side for a couple of minutes.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or curd.
